The storming V8 sounds a firebreather, the M6 is a venemous firecracker and the 3.0-litre petrol has sweet-spinning fleetness of foot, but the best is the snarling 3.0-litre diesel. Twin turbos mean minimal lag and the output is prodigious: it even sounds sweet. The eight-speed automatic is peachy too. Stylish, accommodating and beautifully built, it’s a more interesting place to be than a 5-Series and makes you feel as good about the world as you’d hope a coupe would.
Design
Chrome-plated tailpipe finishers, exterior mirrors and kidney grille ensure an elegant, sporty appearance. The slats of the kidney grille in particular are extravagantly shaped and are reduced in number, which, together with the large air inlets in the redesigned apron, makes the front of the vehicle appear even more voluminous.
Car Styling
The 100 percent carbon fibre BMW M Performance exterior mirror caps are lavishly crafted by hand. They underscore the car’s high-tech pedigree. Their dynamic design ensures an eye-catching premium look and adds an individual athletic touch.
The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé pursues one aim: To achieve an even more exclusive interpretation of sporty elegance. This is clearly reflected in the interior. Long lines and elaborate surfaces create an exquisite sensation of spaciousness.
Three different modes and their specific characteristics – each of which have their own colour scheme and graphic style – can be displayed in the instrument cluster: COMFORT, ECO PRO and SPORT modes. While COMFORT mode largely retains the appearance familiar up to now, blue tones dominate the display in ECO PRO mode, in which the new EfficientDynamics and Bonus Range displays aid the driver in achieving the most efficient driving style possible.
